The first was very basic - it worked okay, but broke in about a year. The second was more advanced, with a remote that would show the playlists and the current song - but you had to sync it any time you changed your iPod. This was inconvenient (at the least) and generally a pain. In addition this one broke after about a year and a half and it cost over $100.
